Jingle Bells, or the One Horse Open Sleigh

This song was written by James Lord Pierpont (1822–1893) and published under the title "One Horse Open Sleigh" in 1857. Believe it or not, it was actually written and sung for Thanksgiving!

As we plough through another round of Christmas and all it's commercialism of "Happy Holidays of a wintery season" rather than remembering the best gift Father God has given us, it was heartening to hear a marching band in One Utama playing biblical Christmas songs amongst santa, his reindeers and other snowy songs. The kids loved Jingle Bells! I love Jingle Bells!

No worries, our dear Tony Toh changed the lyrics of 'Jingle Bells' to help us remember why we celebrate Christmas and still allow us to enjoy that youthful upbeat tune. Praise the Lord for blessing Tony with creativity!

Maybe you want to sing this with your kids as well during Christmas parties. :) Thanks Tony!

(sung the tune of Jingle Bells) Lyrics by Tony Toh

Once there was a babe,
Who was born on Christmas Day,
In a manger there He lay
Cause there's no room to stay

Shepherds on a hill
Suddenly stood still
When they heard the angels cry
The birth of Jesus Christ

Chorus:
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ
Jesus saved my life
Jesus came to give His life
So we may never die
(2 x)

God is now with Man
That was in His Plan
Christ the perfect Lamb
A sacrifice for Man

Three wise men from a far
Followed the big bright star
With Gold and Myrrh and frankincense
They worshipped Jesus there.
