Check this out! :) I stumbled on this website when making preparation for the tabenacle bible study for the kids. This website really enhanced my imagination of what a tabernacle looks like. I pray that as you begin to understand why God commanded for the earthly tabernacle to be set up, you can also begin to see that it is a copy of heaven, a foreshadow of the real thing to come.
The sacrifice that God demanded was a way for Him to help us understand that one day He would send us a saviour i.e Jesus Christ because for 1,500 years, the Israelites tried to obey His commands but they could not. Even as early as Cain and Abel, men had already begun to sacrifice to God but only through Moses did God show us the perfect way to burn and offer sacrifices to Him. Throughout history, we can see people all over the world sacrificing to their gods though it is not pleasing to the God who made the heavens and the earth.
God Himself gave us a perfect lamb, His son Jesus Christ as a ransom for our sins. All His wrath which was meant for us because he hates sin (that's why we sacrifice, do repentance etc) has been put on Jesus. And Jesus before He died said "it is finished".
It is finished. There is nothing more that you and I can do. Not climb mount Himalaya, not carry the cross, not do repentance. It is a free gift from God, not by our works that we can boast.
And today, if you are a non christian who DO NOT offer any sacrifices, note that Christianity has wiped out the practice of sacrifices and are responsible for "western culture". A lady once asked Henry "Aiya, you follow gwai lo God ah?" Non christians who do not offer any sacrifices today are in a way living like a christian WITHOUT reaping the benefits of christianity.

So enjoy the Tabernacle, read Exodus and Hebrews and dig away. :)
I pray the Holy Spirit will open your eyes to see Jesus and what a wonderful savior He is as He has done it all for us and we need only love Him.
Hebrews 10:1-4
The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
