Missions family

On 4 September 2009, Steven Lee had a vision for me. He sees me traveling to the south east asian countries to testify of God’s glory and goodness. He sees my family as a missions family. Nic on guitar and Ethan on drums at the age of 17! But he says it would be best to get another confirmation.

I always had in mind for the boys to go on mission trips but I wasn’t sure where we would be as parents except to mould them to be after God’s heart. We surely would like to see the boys in music as we both love music a lot although we can’t play any instruments! Nic is currently attending piano lessons with Junior Music Course with Yamaha but he needs to step up his practices at home and be more courageous in class. Ethan already shows much artistry in playing drums. He is too young to attend any classes. I think he pictures himself with strong arms hitting on humongous Japanese drums. His movements are almost martial arts-like, striking a pose after he finishes and even bows!

So, I pray these days for God to speak directly to me where he is leading me to. I ask God to show me what He has in store for me. Few weeks ago, I asked God for a vision. Strong impression of the following words came to my mind on the night I wrote the lyrics for the song “No Fear”:

Cancer

Guitar

Cobra

Hamir

Guitar (again)

When Uncle Allen came to my house with his prayer warriors to sing praises to God, to share God’s words with me and to pray for me, I thought it was such a very powerful ministry. To my surprise he told me that I was the first! Later, Uncle Allen shared he felt led to continue with this ministry and I expressed to him that I would like to be part of this ministry as I believe that many cancer patients would benefit from this ministry as much as I have. The songs sung with guitar on the background ministers to my spirit. The word of God increases my faith, lifts my spirit and shoots down all lies of the enemy (cobra). In Luke 4:40, Jesus demonstrated he healed the sick by laying hands on them.

“When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them.”

So, where does Hamir fit in? So far, he has visited my home group with his guitar together with Steven Lee. We had a good time of praise and worship and sharing of testimonies and listening to God’s words. I believe each of our spirit was lifted that night – just enjoying God’s presence and worshipping Him filled with the holy spirit.

This morning, during my devotion, the Lord impressed upon me again the need to share the gospel to the unbelievers. Unbelievers can only choose to believe if they are first given an opportunity hear God’s word. For the bible says faith comes from hearing God’s word. But how will they hear God’s word if we do not go and preach to them.

Romans 10:14,15,17

14How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" 17Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

I ask that God prepares our hearts (Henry’s and mine) to do His will. Previously, I noticed that it was very difficult for Henry to sing songs like “Lord I offer my life to you, everything I’ve been through, use it for your glory”. These days, when he sings it, he means it. :) The good Lord has opened our eyes to see His love, faithfulness and wondrous works. I know He has already begun His preparation for us. Even this “Deeper Life Seminar” that I am attending every Monday and Tuesday for 8 weeks is a preparation that He is putting me through. I only joined it so that I can be close to God to avoid the fiery darts from the evil one but now, I see His hand is moving me and nudging me to the right path. Thank you Lord for leading me. Thank you Lord for your guidance. Thank you Lord for everything.

  3. YESSSSSSSSSSS......Nic and Ethan shall indeed be involved in the youth ministry....with guitar, drums and singing (yeah). Music is a powerful way to share the Gospel and reach out to people everywhere. I have just tried using my Drum Circle Playshop (DCP) for the first time in a church camp for St Andrew's Church at Melaka Holiday Inn. Even though it was only 1.5 hours, we hit orchestra level with 150 people (90% do not have musical background) and we were marching to the song ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS. And....when all instruments went silent and the shofar was blown, God's shekinah glory just descended and I believe many people had a glimpse of heaven. Some pics are found in www.drumcircleplayshop.com....if you like the video taken, pls contact me....019-3523082...
