Believing God's Words Over Our Feelings

I went for my first "Deeper Life Seminar" yesterday at RLC by Vernon Fall. It is fine tuning me to understand the lies that are constantly thrown at us. I myself am beginning to understand this. So far, I have been told that even when you are dry, you must understand that God is still present. I remember dear Sue’s kids devotion on Habakuk 3. There is another scripture:

2 Corinthians 5:7
7We live by faith, not by sight.

Ps Vernon explained that anytime your feelings (physical & emotional) contradict God’s words, we must believe God’s words OVER our feelings. And that itself is a new revelation to me because it means that I need to depend on God all the more, not on my strength but by trusting God's words.

And I hold Him to His words because He is a God that cannot lie.

I would recommend anyone seeking to walk closer to God to attend this "Deeper Life Seminar" at RLC Church at 51A/221 PJ. I’ve never been to a Christian seminar where it is so filled with God’s presence. The Holy Spirit was with us and it is such a wonderful experience. The registration closes next Tuesday. What I experienced yesterday night was so powerful and eye opening because faith comes from hearing God's words. Ps Vernon has this gift of explaining the truth so simply. The whole time he is just giving us scripture after scripture and I can imagine if we are so hungry for God, we will just meditate on His word so that when we get another attack from the devil, we can just speak God’s words aloud and it will flea from us immediately.

The devil is always on the prowl to devour those who are God’s children. Ps Vernon reminded us that guilt and condemnation are not from God. When we walk in the flesh, we FEAR condemnation. But when we walk in the spirit, we are FREE from condemnation.

Ps Vernon shared this scripture with us:

1 John 1:9 (New International Version)
9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

God is faithful. This means WITHOUT FAIL, He will always do what He says. The moment we seek forgiveness, He forgives us. Full stop. We do not have to feel condemned anymore. Even if we still feel guilty tomorrow, or next week or 20 years from now, He has already forgiven us. He is NOT a dead God. He has heard us the FIRST time! Any other feelings are not from God. He had this funny example of his own sin as a 5 year old boy slaughtering baby chicks. The devil called him a “Baby chick killer”. Even though he had sought forgiveness from God, the devil will just remind him again and again that he is a “baby chick killer”. God may have forgiven you ALL your sins but there is this sin that He will not forgive. But that’s the devil’s lies.

Another funny example though very real is the couple that argued in the car on the way to church and once they stepped out of the car into church grounds, they would smile as if all was fine. Nevertheless, this couple sought forgiveness before entering church. Still, there was a remnant of bitterness and resentment and this prevented them from serving in church that day. Ps Vernon reminded us that even in such situation, once we have sought forgiveness from God and we don’t FEEL 100% clean, we HAVE been forgiven. The bible tells us so. We just bind the negative thoughts and command it out from our mind in Jesus’ name.

The scripture says:

Romans 8
Life Through the Spirit
1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.

We are now led by the Spirit, no longer in the flesh.
We live by faith, not by sight.

What a wonderful revelation. We know it yet we don’t. Now, I reminded again that I can rely 100% on God’s words for all my daily struggles, needs as well as claiming God’s words for healing. Thank you Lord for healing me because you said so in the bible.

  1. hi bunny
i had wanted to share about this for some time but hesitated...i realized that some of my blogs synchronize with yours? its bizarre but maybe god has the same message for both of us, from different angles but same application!? its like both of us are looking at our lives, allowing god to unfold part by part (like peeling an onion) and discover something amazing (like yr rhema).
caught by surprise but loving it,
    fee
