Today, 8 August 2009, is the 40th day since my first day at the hospital on 30 June 2009, the day I pushed all my favourite magazines and just dived into God’s presence, seeking His face, reading His word and heard His revelation for me that night. Today is the 40th wonderful day of walking with God, seeing His miracles at work, understanding His plan for me and talking to God. During this time, I’ve been inspired to write this blog to share with everyone and praying that everyone will “catch the fire”.
If you are facing trouble today (because maybe you are feeling discouraged of circumstances around you,if you are suffering from poor health, if your children have been constantly sick, if all is not well at your home front etc) I just want to assure you that you can run back to God and seek Him. If you are sincerely seeking Him, the Holy Spirit will come upon you and guide you. During the first few days, I did not have healing books at hand, I did not have anyone to tell me the steps to take but amazingly the Holy Spirit prompts us, guides us... he will cause us to think of our past and to repent and we will just fall on our knees to ask for forgiveness. My dad said last week “You should look back in your life to see where you went wrong”. I said “Yes Dad I did. I had a conversation with God. He told me to come back to you and told me to say I am sorry to you.” I remember during the hospital stay I smsed daddy that I love Him and that I am sorry I did not spend enough time with him. The Holy Spirit will just prompt us to deal in ALL areas of our lives. Please say a prayer that you forgive certain people and repent for doing wrong. When I met up with Pastor Lydia and Pastor Joseph, they guided me and taught me how to pray. They said forgiveness is the first step. It need not be forgiveness and seeking reconciliation. After all, reconciliation may or may not happen because it takes 2 to tango. But just DO YOUR PART. Slowly, you will find words will leap out from the bible for you, friends will pray for you and offer you help (so please be willing to share to a certain extent), God will bring people that are in tune with the Holy Spirit into your lives, He will guide you to the books to read, sermons will sound like it was meant just for you and healing takes place as you continue to seek Him!
Now, after reading several books, I am so amazed the journey is somewhat the same. I am glad I just dived into His presence rather that to read a book first because to a certain extent when you read a book, it becomes a procedure book. Walking with God and letting Him lead you is much more exciting!
Hamir just shared with me yesterday that a lady (who is not a Christian) asked him how he became a Christian. When he shared, she started to cry and he knew that the Holy Spirit has touched her and he started to pray for her. That, my friends, is the beginning of her journey. And what a beautiful journey it will be! Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
Anyway, I wanted to share with you from the book “Give me 40 Days for Healing” by Freeda Bowers about how the number 40 is so significant. She wrote on pg 9:
“In looking to the Word of God, we see that the number 40 is mentioned over 120 times. Some of these references include the following:
- Noah with his family and all the animals as is rained for 40 days (Genesis 7)
- Moses on Mt Sinai for 40 days receiving the law (Exodus 24)
- The spies of Israel spying out the Promised Land for 40 days (Numbers 13)
- God strengthening Elijah for 40 days from one meal (1 Kings 19)
- Jonah preaching repentance to Nineveh for 40 days (Jonah 3)
- Jesus being tempted by satan during 40 days in the wilderness (Matthew 4)
- Jesus being seen by His disciples for 40 days between His resurrection and ascension (Acts 1)
In all of the passages mentioned above, and in every other reference to the number 40 in scripture, one of the two things was happening. The people involved were either in transition, or they were being put into position. “ These 40 days of seeking Him once we are committed, “…will either transition you from one place to another in Him, or put you into position to receive what He has for you. Either is wonderful to experience”.
On page 21 she continued “After one meeting, Bobbie Jean and I had a meal together, and I began talking to her about the number 40. I asked her if she knew that the number 40 meant. Without hesitation Bobbie Jean looked at me intently and said “Freeda, the number 40 means divine order applied to all earthly things and flesh. ….I have great faith that God will release His divine order into your physical body as you give Him 40 days for your healing”.
Isn’t our God wonderful? Just let God be God. We only need to let go. Don’t lean on our own understanding. Just trust Him and watch Him work in our lives. I see it in King Wai’s life, Shirley’s life, Hamir’s life, Steven’s life – just relax and live daily in His presence. It’s a wonderful journey.
So, today I wait upon the Lord and wait for his release of divine order unto me. He knows the desire of my heart. Friends, I encourage you to begin yours. You don’t have to think of the number 40 – just begin. You will be so blessed, you won’t believe it! Everyone around you will “catch the fire” too!

Hi Liz, since i don't know your email I am writing to you via your blog! This is your cousin Tracy. Firstly thank you for sharing your adventure with us, truly you are in an adventure! Dad emailed your blog address to us this week and I am glad he did (your message to him came to us via his mob. number.)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to write here tonight to share with you a few things. By the way, about Proverbs 3, it dawned on me when you had talked about it that I had also read that recently - I think this week - this is confirmation for you. Before writing here I re-read proverbs 3 again. After reading that I came across Isaish 65: 17-25, then thought I had to share that with you. The subject titled 'New Heavens and a New Earth' - I found it insightful and encouraging, have a read of it as it's a little long to write it here. After that I came to Isaish 66:12-13, and thought of you -
For this is what the Lord says:
"I will extend peace to her like a river,
and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream; you will nurse and be carried on her arm and dandled on her knees. As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem."
I read your 40th day just then too - Amen!
I also wanted to share with you a powerful praise and worship song titled "This is our God", by Hillsong. A beautiful song to for you.
This Is Our God :
Your grace is enough
More than I need
And your word I will believe
I wait for you
Draw near again
And your spirit make me new
And i will fall at your feet
I will fall at your feet
And i will worship you here
Your presence in me
Jesus light the way
By the power of your word
I am restored
I am redeemed
By your spirit i am free
And i will fall at your feet
I will fall at your feet
And i will worship you here
Freely you gave it all for us
Surrendered your life upon that cross
Great is your love
Poured out for all
This is our God
Lifted on high from death to life
Forever our God is glorified
Sovereign king
Rescued the world
This is our God
And i will fall at your feet
I will fall at your feet
And i will worship you here
And i will fall at your feet
I will fall at your feet
And i will worship you here
Freely you gave it all for us
Surrendered your life upon that cross
Great is your love
Poured out for all
This is our God
Lifted on high from death to life
Forever out God is glorified
Sovereign king
Rescued the world
This is our God

Finally Liz, my faith is in Him who heals and I have faith that he is healing you and you will make a remarkable recovery! I am willing to trust him on that. Praise be to our amazing and sovereign God, nothing is too big for him, nothing is impossible for Him! Just like the the lady who sufferred 12 years of bleeding, was healed by Jesus when she had reached out in faith, when she said to herself 'if only I could touch the hem of his garment' - praise be to the one who loves us! I too am learning more about physical healing; it is because of your situation, that I have had to face the topic straight on - it is good for me too!
We'll continue to stand in faith with you.
Look forward to seeing you soon.
See you soon!
love Tracy
wow....I am reaching 40 years old soon as you have said. The future looks uncertain for me and I don't know if i can adequately provide for my family. I used to be carefree and not worry about these things and didn't really plan or do anything about it. Reading your blog reminded me of our primary calling as Christians and i am ashamed to say it took your situation to wake me up and seek God. Thank you for sharing and being there for Min Yi and me.
